Frequently asked questions

Answers about eVisas, fees, processing, documents and flight ticket assistance.

General

What is an eVisa?

An eVisa (electronic visa) is a travel authorisation you apply for online instead of visiting an embassy or consulate. Some destinations use related online systems, such as an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) for Kenya and Sri Lanka, Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) for Hong Kong, or online authorisation/registration for Thailand.

Which countries are available?

VisaAdvisory currently lists 66 eVisa / online visa destinations for Indian ordinary passport holders across Europe (8), Asia (18), Middle East (6), Africa (26), Americas (6), Oceania (2). You can search and filter them all on the Countries page.

Who is this information for?

The destination information on VisaAdvisory is for Indian ordinary passport holders. Requirements for other passports or passport types may be different.

eVisa fees & processing

How much does an eVisa cost?

Fees depend on the destination and are shown in the currency in which they are commonly quoted. Every price shown is an all-inclusive total: the government visa fee plus the VisaAdvisory service charge. For example, Azerbaijan is US$49–50, Vietnam is US$45 single / US$70 multiple, and Argentina is ~US$220. Where the government fee varies, the price is shown as “From US$20” and confirmed before you pay. Approximate rupee (₹) amounts are shown next to each fee, converted at the current exchange rate.

All fees are indicative and can change. Check each country page for its listed fee, and contact VisaAdvisory for current details for your application.

How long does processing take?

Processing times vary by destination. Some of the shortest listed times are Turkey (~4–6 days), Côte d'Ivoire (~5–6 days), Sri Lanka (~4–6 days), Thailand (~4–6 days), Oman (~4–7 days). Longer listed times include Albania (~18 days), Argentina (~13–23 days), Chile (~13–23 days), Moldova (~13 working days), Tanzania (~13 days). Processing for Australia, New Zealand, Syria, Trinidad & Tobago is listed as variable.

These times are indicative, so apply well before your travel date.

Is visa approval guaranteed?

No. eVisa availability does not guarantee approval. Every application is decided by the destination's authorities, and VisaAdvisory cannot influence or guarantee their decision.

Documents & requirements

What documents may be required?

Requirements are set by each destination and can change. For every country, VisaAdvisory shows whether accommodation proof is usually required (31 destinations), conditional (14), may be requested (11) or not normally required (10).

For a full list of documents for your trip, contact VisaAdvisory and check the official immigration or visa portal before you pay or travel.

Do I need a hotel booking for my eVisa?

It depends on the destination. “Usually required” means accommodation proof is commonly requested. “Conditional” means an invitation, sponsor or host address may be accepted instead, or it may depend on the visa category. “Not normally required” means it is generally not a separate mandatory document, although an address or itinerary can still be requested.

When accommodation proof is needed, a refundable hotel booking is generally safer than a non-refundable one.
