About the Jordan visa

Jordan's highlights include the rose-red city of Petra, the desert of Wadi Rum, floating in the Dead Sea and Roman ruins at Jerash. Indian passport holders can arrange a Jordanian tourist visa online before travel, usually for a stay of up to 30 days.

Many visitors use the Jordan Pass, which bundles the tourist visa fee with entry to Petra and over 40 sites. It is valid when you stay at least three nights and fly into Jordan.

Who can apply

• You hold an Indian ordinary passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival, with at least two blank pages.
• For the Jordan Pass visa waiver, you stay in Jordan for at least three consecutive nights.
• Your visit is short-term, such as tourism, a family visit or business meetings. Work, study and residence in Jordan need a different visa.

• Passport: Clear colour scan of the bio-data page of your Indian passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival.

• Flights: Confirmed return or onward ticket showing your dates into and out of Jordan.
• Accommodation: Hotel booking, tour voucher or your host's address and contact details in Jordan.

• Plan ahead: Apply at least 2–3 weeks before you fly to Jordan, and earlier during peak holiday seasons.

Before you travel

• If you use the Jordan Pass, keep it on your phone and show it on arrival. Leaving within three nights can mean paying the visa fee at departure.
• Crossings to Israel and the West Bank have their own rules, and the situation can change. Check before planning.
• The Jordanian dinar is the local currency.
• Keep a printed copy of your approval and a digital copy on your phone. Airlines often check it at check-in for flights to Jordan.
• Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended for every trip to Jordan.
