About the Kyrgyzstan visa

Kyrgyzstan is a land of mountains, yurts and alpine lakes such as Issyk-Kul and Song-Köl, ideal for trekking and horse riding. Indian passport holders can apply for a Kyrgyz e-Visa online and receive it by email.

Tourist e-Visas are offered for different lengths of stay, and business e-Visas are available with supporting documents. The e-Visa is accepted at Bishkek and Osh airports and at the main land borders.

Who can apply

• You hold an Indian ordinary passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival, with at least two blank pages.
• Your visit is short-term, such as tourism, a family visit or business meetings. Work, study and residence in Kyrgyzstan need a different visa.

Required documents

• Passport: Clear colour scan of the bio-data page of your Indian passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival.
• Photograph: Recent passport-size colour photo on a plain white background, as a digital file.
• Flights: Confirmed return or onward ticket showing your dates into and out of Kyrgyzstan.
• Accommodation: Hotel booking, tour voucher or your host's address and contact details in Kyrgyzstan.
• Invitation (business): A letter from the host company in Kyrgyzstan, for business e-Visas.

• Plan ahead: Apply at least 2–3 weeks before you fly to Kyrgyzstan, and earlier during peak holiday seasons.

Before you travel

• Foreign visitors staying longer than a short period may need to register with the authorities. Hotels and tour operators usually handle this.
• Plan treks with a registered guide in remote areas, as weather in the mountains changes quickly.
• The Kyrgyzstani som is the local currency. Carry cash outside Bishkek.
• Keep a printed copy of your approval and a digital copy on your phone. Airlines often check it at check-in for flights to Kyrgyzstan.
• Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended for every trip to Kyrgyzstan.
