About the Myanmar visa

Myanmar is known for the temples of Bagan, the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and Inle Lake. Indian passport holders can apply for a tourist e-Visa online, allowing a single stay of up to 28 days.

Required documents

• Passport: Clear colour scan of the bio-data page of your Indian passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival.
• Photograph: Recent passport-size colour photo on a plain white background, as a digital file.
• Flights: Confirmed return or onward ticket showing your dates into and out of Myanmar.
• Accommodation: Hotel booking, tour voucher or your host's address and contact details in Myanmar.
• Business letter (business visa): Invitation from a Myanmar company and a letter from your employer.

Before you travel

• India's Ministry of External Affairs has issued advisories on travel to Myanmar because of the security situation. Check the latest advisory and avoid conflict-affected regions.
• The e-Visa is accepted at the main airports (Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw) and some land borders. Many land crossings are closed or unsafe.
• Carry clean, new US dollar notes, as card payments and ATMs can be unreliable.
• Keep a printed copy of your approval and a digital copy on your phone. Airlines often check it at check-in for flights to Myanmar.
• Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended for every trip to Myanmar.
