About the Sri Lanka visa

Sri Lanka is a short hop from India, with tea country around Ella and Nuwara Eliya, the rock fortress of Sigiriya, Kandy's Temple of the Tooth and southern beaches such as Mirissa. Indian passport holders apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before flying.

The tourist ETA allows a stay of up to 30 days with a double entry and is usually approved within 4–6 days. Sri Lanka has at times waived the ETA fee for Indian tourists, so check the current fee when you apply.

05

Processing time

  • Typical time: ~4–6 days after a complete application is submitted

Before you travel

  • The tourist ETA can be extended from inside Sri Lanka through the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
