About the UAE visa

Indian passport holders need a visa to enter the United Arab Emirates for tourism, business or a family visit. Most short-term UAE visas are now issued electronically. You receive the approved visa by email as a PDF, so there is no passport stamping before you travel.

Applications are usually filed through a UAE-based sponsor, such as an airline, a licensed travel agency, a hotel or a relative living in the UAE. VisaAdvisory helps you choose the right visa, prepare a complete document set and track the application until the eVisa is issued.

Who can apply

  • You hold an Indian ordinary passport that is valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival.
  • Your trip is for tourism, business, transit or a family visit. Employment and residence need a different visa.
  • You can show a confirmed return or onward ticket and somewhere to stay in the UAE.
  • Indian nationals holding a valid US visa or green card, or a UK or EU residence permit, may qualify for a visa on arrival. Check eligibility before relying on it.

Accommodation requirement

Usually required

Usually required / hotel or sponsor accommodation

Accommodation proof is commonly requested.

When accommodation proof is needed, a refundable hotel booking is generally safer than a non-refundable booking.

Required documents

  • Passport scan: Clear colour copy of the first and last pages. The passport should be valid for 6+ months and have at least two blank pages.
  • Photograph: Recent passport-size colour photo on a plain white background, without glasses or headwear (religious headwear excepted).
  • Flight booking: Confirmed return or onward ticket that matches your travel dates.
  • Accommodation: Hotel booking, or the host's address and Emirates ID/visa copy if staying with family or friends.
  • Financial proof: Recent bank statements may be requested, especially for longer or multiple-entry visas.
  • Business documents: For business visits: invitation letter from the UAE company and a covering letter from your employer.
  • Minors: Birth certificate and parents' passport copies. A no-objection letter may be needed if a child travels with one parent.

The exact document checklist for UAE is set by its immigration authorities and can change. Contact VisaAdvisory for guidance specific to your trip, and verify on the official immigration or visa portal before payment or travel.

How to apply

01

Pick your visa

Choose a visa that fits your trip length, number of entries and purpose. We can help you compare.

02

Book flights and stay

UAE applications ask for travel dates, so confirm your tickets and accommodation first.

03

Share your documents

Send scans of your passport, photo, tickets and hotel booking. We check them before filing.

04

Application is submitted

The application is filed with UAE immigration through an authorised sponsor and the fee is paid.

05

Receive your eVisa

The approved visa arrives by email. Print a copy and carry it with your passport.

Processing time

  • Standard: About 6–7 working days after a complete application is submitted
  • Express: Often around 4–5 days, where available, for an extra fee
  • Note: UAE weekends and public holidays are not counted. Peak seasons (Eid, New Year, school holidays) can add delays.

Before you travel

  • Most short-term visas must be used within about 58–60 days of issue. Check the 'enter before' date on your eVisa.
  • Carry a printed copy of the eVisa, your return ticket and hotel booking. Immigration officers may ask to see them.
  • Some airlines flying from India check the UAE visa before boarding ('OK to Board'). Ask your airline whether this applies to you.
  • Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended, and it is mandatory for some visa categories.
  • Overstaying attracts a daily fine and can affect future visas. If you need more time, apply for an extension before your visa expires.

Important notes

  • Fees and processing times are indicative and can change.
  • eVisa availability does not guarantee approval. The decision rests with the authorities of UAE.
  • Requirements can change, so verify on the official immigration or visa portal before payment or travel.

FAQ

UAE visa questions

Do Indian citizens need a visa for the UAE?

Yes. Indian passport holders need a visa for tourism, business or family visits. Indians holding a valid US visa or green card, or a UK or EU residence permit, may be eligible for a visa on arrival instead.

Can I apply before booking my flight?

It is best to book first. The application asks for travel dates, and a confirmed return ticket and accommodation are part of the standard document set.

How long can I stay on a UAE tourist visa?

It depends on the visa you choose: usually 30 or 60 days for a single visit, or up to 90 days per visit on a long-term multiple-entry visa.

Can I extend my UAE visa while in the country?

Many tourist visas can be extended from inside the UAE, usually by 30 days at a time, for an additional fee. Apply before your current visa expires.

How quickly can I get a UAE eVisa?

Standard processing takes about 6–7 working days. Express processing, where available, can take around 4–5 days. Weekends and UAE holidays are not counted.

Can my family apply together?

Yes. Each traveller, including children, needs a separate visa, but applications for a family or group can be filed together.

Is the visa fee refunded if the application is rejected?

Government visa fees are generally non-refundable once the application has been submitted, whatever the outcome. Please read our refund policy for details on service fees.

Do I need travel insurance for Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

It is strongly recommended for every trip and is mandatory for some visa types. A policy with medical cover for the whole stay is the safest choice.
