About the Turkey visa

Türkiye offers Istanbul's mosques and bazaars, the hot-air balloons of Cappadocia, Pamukkale's white terraces and the beaches of Antalya. For Indian citizens, the route depends on the documents you already hold.

Indians with a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa or residence permit can get a conditional Türkiye e-Visa online, usually within about 4–6 days. Who can apply

• You hold an Indian ordinary passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival, with at least two blank pages.
• For the e-Visa: you hold a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa or residence permit.
• Your visit is short-term, such as tourism, a family visit or business meetings. Work, study and residence in Turkey need a different visa.

Required documents

• Passport: Clear colour scan of the bio-data page of your Indian passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival.
• Photograph: Recent passport-size colour photo on a plain white background, as a digital file.
• Flights: Confirmed return or onward ticket showing your dates into and out of Turkey.
• Accommodation: Hotel booking, tour voucher or your host's address and contact details in Turkey.
• Supporting visa: For the e-Visa: copy of your valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa or residence permit.
• Bank statements: For the sticker visa: last 3–6 months of statements and income tax returns.
• Travel insurance: Medical insurance covering your stay in Türkiye, recommended for every application.

How to apply

Processing time

• Typical time: ~4–6 days after a complete application is submitted
• Sticker visa: The regular visa through VFS usually takes about 18 working days, longer in summer.
• Plan ahead: Apply at least 2–3 weeks before you fly to Turkey, and earlier during peak holiday seasons.

Before you travel

• Conditional e-Visa holders may need to fly with an airline approved by Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as Turkish Airlines. Check before booking.
• Carry your supporting US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa with you. It must be valid when you enter Türkiye.
• The Turkish lira is the local currency. Cards are widely accepted in cities and tourist areas.
• Keep a printed copy of your approval and a digital copy on your phone. Airlines often check it at check-in for flights to Turkey.
• Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended for every trip to Turkey.
